This picture is quite a symbol of the outrageus "trail of tears", when in 1838 more than 15.000 Tsalagi (Cherokee) and many other tribes, were forced to move from their original lands to the Indian Territory (Oklahoma) with a 1600 miles march. As I know, more than 4.000 Cherokee died of diseases, exposures and  hunger during that trip.

Questa foto e' piu' di un semplice simbolo di un drammatico e oltraggioso evento ricordato dal popolo Cherokee (Tsalagi), e comunque da tutti i Nativi Americani che subirono la stessa sorte, che fu chiamato "Il sentiero delle lacrime". Nel 1838, piu' di 15.000 Cherokee furono costretti a lasciare la propria terra e le loro case verso il Territorio Indiano (oggi l'Oklahoma), con una marcia di oltre 1600 miglia. Per quanto ne so, oltre 4.000 individui morirono di stenti e malattie durante la marcia.
